Srinagar, Aug 08: President J&K Anjuman-E-Sharie Shian Agha Syed Hassan Mosavi on Thursday said that Hazrat Imam Hussain’s sacrifice showed that truth always emerges as victorious. He said people should learn from the example of Imam Hussain (AS).
Addressing the mourners at Majlis e Hussaini (AS) which was held at the mausoleum of Mir Shamasdin Iraqi (RA) in Chadoora, Budgam, Agha Hassan said the day of martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) is an event that was reminiscent of the immense sacrifices rendered by the martyrs of Karbala to uphold the spirit of Islam.
“The great epic of Ashura has a lot of messages and lessons that affect various dimensions of our political, social, and individual lives. It played a major role in terms of making sacrifices and promoting altruism,” he said.
On the occasion, Agha Syed Mujtaba Abbas Mosavi Al-Safavi expressed concern over the alarming spread of drug addiction in Kashmir, mostly among the younger generation. He termed it a “national emergency”.
In the light of Quran and Hadith, he highlighted the prohibition of intoxicants and their harmful effects on human life and society saying there is no allowance for the use of narcotics in Islam.
Agha Mujtaba said each human life is extremely precious in the eyes of Allah and protecting it is the duty of every individual upon whom this precious gift has been bestowed. “Collective efforts are needed to combat this grave problem,” he said.
Sharing available data, Agha Mujtaba said that a staggering 1.5 million young boys and girls in Jammu Kashmir have fallen victim to the addiction menace. “Given that Kashmir is a high-security zone, if 15 lakh people in the population are consuming drugs, is it possible that the supply chain to such a huge number of people is unknown?” he asked.
Without curtailing the supply end of the drug market chain, social initiatives, awareness programs, and rehabilitation efforts will not be effective, he argued.
Agha Mujtaba Abbas urged the authorities to take firm actions to curb the supply of drugs. He called on parents to stay vigilant and be aware of their children’s activities and associations.
Agha called on all responsible members of society—including teachers, doctors, members of civil society, masjid imams, scholars, NGOs, mohalla committees and the government—to take this issue seriously and play their role in its curb and elimination.
