Ganderbal, Oct 02: In a momentous declaration made on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shyambir (IAS) took to the stage at Qamariya Ground to announce a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against drug addiction. A total of 46 panchayats within the district have been officially recognized as “Nasha Mukath” (Drug-Free) panchayats, showcasing the remarkable dedication and efforts of the local community.
Addressing a gathered assembly of enthusiastic residents and community leaders, at Qamariya Ground Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal) emphasized the immense power of collective action for the betterment of society. He expressed his optimism that Ganderbal District would soon become the first drug-free district in the Union Territory, thanks to the active and united involvement of its citizens.
This declaration marks a turning point in the fight against substance abuse in the region, highlighting the effectiveness of community-driven initiatives. Furthermore, the DC made a commitment to combat drug addiction, encouraging participants to stay away from drugs and work collectively to make Ganderbal free from drug-related issues.

Meanwhile on the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Ganderbal District Administration orchestrated a grand Shanti Rally, led by Deputy Commissioner Shyambir (IAS). This meaningful event began at the Mini Secretariat Ganderbal and concluded at Qamariya Ground Ganderbal, drawing the enthusiastic participation of thousands of district officers, police personnel, civil society members, students, prominent citizens, Municipal Council Chairman, and media representatives.
The ceremony commenced with all participants gathering on the Mini Secretariat lawn to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and reflect on his principles of cleanliness and non-violence.
During the event, a project exhibition showcased various achievements and initiatives of the participants involved in the “Nasha Mukht Abhiyan,” earning the Deputy Commissioner’s praise for their hard work and dedication.
