Kargil, Jan 30:  In a significant effort to address the rising accident rates in Union Territory (UT) Ladakh, SP Traffic Ladakh Mujeeb ur Rehman and ARTO Kargil Khadim Hussain jointly led the 6th seminar-cum-awareness program during the ongoing Road Safety Month.
During the event held at Taxi Stand Kargil, SP Traffic highlighted the need for a strategic plan to reduce the death rate, placing a strong emphasis on public cooperation. He urged drivers and the general public to prioritize safety measures such as seat belt usage, avoiding over-speeding, and responsible parking. Emphasizing the pivotal role of transportation in the region’s economy, he stressed the collective responsibility in ensuring safer roads.
ARTO Kargil, Khadim Hussain, underscored the importance of awareness and adherence to road safety rules. He urged citizens to actively participate in promoting traffic safety by following regulations, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, understanding road signage, and maintaining cleanliness at bus stations. Additionally, he called for the elimination of common bad driving habits.
The event also featured a medical team demonstrating basic life-saving support, providing attendees with crucial knowledge. Officials from J&K Bank informed participants about available schemes and loans aimed at promoting public welfare.
Concluding the gathering, DYSP Traffic Kargil extended a vote of thanks, highlighting the necessity of a collaborative effort to enhance road safety in the region. The seminar aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among citizens and promote a safer road environment through increased awareness and adherence to road safety guidelines.
