Srinagar, July 26: The Administrative Council, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has approved amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Industrial Land Allotment Policy 2021-30, aiming to make it more transparent and equitable. The Industries and Commerce Department has integrated views and comments from stakeholders to update the existing policy effectively. The amendments are designed to simplify processes and enhance efficiency in land allotments.
The updated policy includes periodic revision of lease premiums, ensuring lease premiums are regularly revised to reflect current market conditions. Additionally, applications will be invited through extensive publicity to ensure broad participation, and land will be allocated based on competitive merit. The amendments also involve evaluating applicants’ qualifications and experience, tailoring evaluation criteria to specific sectors, defining the functions and jurisdiction of land allotment committees, and establishing timelines for restoring cancelled allotments.
To attract significant investments with strategic importance to the economy of the union territory, the government may allot land on a preferential basis to mega projects in the industrial and service sectors. These projects must have a minimum capital investment of Rs. 4,000 crores, excluding land and working capital. The amendments aim to ensure equity and transparency among applicants, facilitating large investments and boosting employment generation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The revised Jammu and Kashmir Industrial Land Allotment Policy 2021-30 is expected to streamline the land allotment process, attract substantial investments, and foster economic growth in the region.
