Srinagar, Jan 4: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday recovered three pistols and several Chinese grenades from a house in the Taad area of border town Karnah in Kupwara district.
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that, based on reliable information, the house of Shameem Ahmad Shiekh was searched, and ammunition was recovered from the house.
The officer said Jammu and Kashmir police along with the Army carried out the searches together in the village of Sadhpora Taad in the Karnah area, and the joint team recovered arms and ammunition, including three pistols, three pistol magazines, 22 pistol rounds, and three Chinese grenades, from a house belonging to Shameem Ahmad Shiekh, the son of Suderdin Sheikh, a resident of Sudhpora Taad.
He said in this connection that a case (FIR No. 02/2023) under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
Meanwhile, SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas has confirmed his recovery from the border town.
It is important to note here that earlier, police arrested two people and found heroin in the same locality.
