Reasi, Aug 01: Police in Reasi on Tuesday said they apprehended an absconder who was evading arrest since 2021.
A police spokesperson in a statement issued here said, “The absconder namely Deepak Kumar, son of Thoru Ram, a resident of Laiter Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi, absconding since 2021 in case FIR No. 42/2021 U/S 279/337/338 IPC 3/181 MV Act of Police Station Pouni, has been arrested by Police party of P/S Pouni.”
The arrest was made by a team led by SHO Pouni, Inspector Purab Singh under the supervision of DySP HQ Reasi, Neeraj Padyar (JKPS), he said, adding that the accused person evaded arrest by disguising and changing locations and couldn’t be apprehended since registration of the case FIR against him.
During the investigation, a case was proved and chargesheet was produced against him in a court of law in 2021. The Court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Reasi has issued a General Warrant of Arrest against him, the spokesperson said.
SSP Reasi Amit Gupta (JKPS) said that Reasi Police leaves no stone unturned to put hardcore and long-absconding criminals to justice by arresting and producing them before the respective courts for judicial determination of their cases.
