Srinagar, Dec 26: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to Ayaan Sajad, a 12-year-old singing sensation from Kashmir, for his achievements in the Art and Culture category.
The award ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Ayaan, hailing from Kashmir, gained nationwide fame for his soulful rendition of the Kashmiri song “BeDard Dadi Chane.” The song, originally written by Kashmiri poet Shamas Fakeer, showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Valley.
Ayaan was honored for his efforts to keep Kashmiri music alive and connect it with the younger generation. His unique voice and ability to mix traditional and modern styles have made him stand out.
The award ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 26, recognizing children who have excelled in different fields.
Ayaan’s journey started with small performances, like at the Achabal Open Mic event, and grew as he gained recognition for his talent. His song, produced under the Mashq Talks – Music initiative, brought him national fame.
