Srinagar, Nov 27: The University of Isfahan in Iran has spotlighted the literary and spiritual contributions of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Razzaq Badri Naqshbandi Mujaddidi, an 18th-century Kashmiri saint and poet, through a doctoral research project.
This marks a significant academic recognition of Kashmir’s rich Sufi heritage on an international platform.
Dr Muzaffar Hussain Ganaie, a scholar from Kashmir, completed his doctoral research on Dār al-Salām, a 5,000-verse Persian poetic masterpiece authored by Hazrat Abdul Razzaq Badri.
The work explores themes of Sufism, spirituality, and social issues, reflecting the saint’s impact on both spiritual thought and the cultural fabric of the Kashmir Valley.
The study, conducted under the auspices of the University of Isfahan, highlights the growing global interest in the region’s Sufi traditions and literary accomplishments.
Hazrat Abdul Razzaq, who belonged to the Badri Naqshbandi lineage, was instrumental in spreading Islam in Kashmir and shaping its spiritual ethos.
A ceremony was recently held at Umar Colony, Lal Bazar, by the Badri Welfare Committee to acknowledge Dr Ganaie’s achievement.
The event was presided over by Nisar Ahmad Qureshi Badri, Sajadah Nisheen of the Badri family, who presented Dr Ganaie with a plaque and certificate of appreciation.
He appreciated Dr Ganaie for highlighting the globally relevant work of Hazrat Abdul Razzaq Badri. Rafi Ahmed Badri praised Dr Ganaie’s scholarly efforts and prayed for his continued contributions to knowledge and religion
This research initiative underscores the universal appeal of Sufi philosophy and the timeless relevance of Kashmir’s literary and spiritual icons, further cementing their place in the annals of Persian and Islamic scholarship.
