Jammu, Jan 24: Former All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi Tuesday distanced from the statement of Digvijay Singh over Pulwama terror attack and surgical strikes and said that “Congress Party is fully behind the Army” adding, “there is no question of asking for any kind of evidence”.
“We (Cong) don’t agree with Digvijay Singh over what he said but our stand is clear and we are fully behind the Army and don’t ant any evidence from the Army,” Rahul said, while addressing media persons at Jajhar Kotli Jammu on the side lines of Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Replying a series of questions over Congress’ stand of Digvijay Singh’s statement, Rahul said, “Let the Army do its job, we don’t want any evidence from it”. He added that Digvijay Singh’s views are his own and that of the Congress Party.
“He (Digvijay Singh) is not above the party and his views are his own and not that of the Congress Party,” Rahul reiterated.
At Jammu yesterday, Digvijay Singh had said that there was a security lapse in Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred.
Addressing a public meeting at Satwari after the Bharat Jodo Yatra reached here at Jammu, Singh had said, “The government had so far not presented the report of Pulwama terror attack in the Parliament”.
He also said that the BJP-led government has also not given proof of surgical strike. Forty (40) CRPF personnel were martyred in Pulwama terror attack.
