First female officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Shahida Praveen will be appearing in ‘Republic Day Special’ show on Sony Entertainment Television (Sony TV) along with other guests from Army,Navy forces, CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) and police.
Hailing from Poonch district of Jammu division, Shahida was inducted into J&K Police as a Sub-Inspector in 1995. Over the past two decades, she served in many parts of Union Territory, and other parts of the Country.
Apart from contributing to counter terrorism, she is a trained yoga teacher, a Marathon runner, and a keen mountaineer . She will be ‘Guest of Honor’ in the ‘Republic Day Special’ show to be telecasted on Sony TV along with other guests from Army,Navy forces, CRPF and police.
DySP Shahida has faced many hurdles in her life to reach this stage.
When she was just 5 years old, her father passed away. They struggled hard to make both ends meet. Her mother single handedly managed her eduction.
“There were many hurdles in the society and people were reluctant towards educating girl child at that point of time. She wanted to do something unique and different in her life,” she said .
She always mentioned that being a part of J&K Police is an honour and being a wife of an army officer is something which she is proud of. In her early years she wanted to become a Mathematics teacher and wanted to serve towards community and country.
DySP Shahida did her mountaineering training from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) from premier mountaineering institute working under the aegis of Ministry of Defence, in Uttarakhand.
She always tried to help and reach out to people in the areas of Poonch. She encourages and supports the young girls to come forward and join the forces. She boost their moral and confidence.
According to her, women have the potential to change the world. They have done it in the past. We should encourage our young girls and make them aware about their rights.
She believes in Almighty Allah .There was a time, when girl education was not so common, they were restricted to home chorus. Now time has changed and they can choose any profession. One should do their work with honesty, determination and dedication will never lose hope,”
Dysp recently appeared on the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 13’ and talked about her days of struggle to make her place in the police force as a woman.
During the show, DySP Shahida also opened up about facing any fear during conflicts and in sensitive areas.
DySP said fearlessly that she is not scared at all. She always dedicates her awards and achievements to the fallen comrades who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Now, DySP Praveen is all set to appear in ‘Republic Day Special’ on January 26 show on Sony Entertainment Television (Sony TV) along with other guests from Army,Navy forces, CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) and police.
