World AIDS Day celebrated in GMC, other health institutions in Doda

A series of events spreading awareness on prevention and control of AIDS were held today in Government Medical College Doda and other health institutions across the district.

At Government Medical College, the programme was organised by the Department of Community Medicine under the guidance of the GMC Principal, Dr. Puja Vimesh. The event started with a pledge taking ceremony on World AIDS day.

After that, HOD community medicine Dr Suresh K Kotwal initiated the event with warm words and summarized the importance of celebrating World Aids Day. Other faculty members like HOD Microbiology, HOD Forensic medicine HOD Dermatology and faculty from other Departments like Dr. Younis Saleem (Professor) Dentistry, Dr Jaspreet (Asst Prof) Anatomy and other staff were also present there.

The MBBS students also took active participation with their speeches and poster presentation in order to make this even more proactive. The overall event was managed by HOD community medicine Dr Suresh K kotwal with active assistance by Dr Walied k Balwan ( Asst Prof), Dr Arjun (JR), Dr Naiyyar( JR),  Shahid saleem(MSW) and Shahzad manhas (MSW).

       Similar events were organised at CHC Bhaderwah, CHC Gandoh, CHC Thathri, other health institutions, colleges, and schools, along with UHTC Ghat RTHC Bhalla. Blood donation camps were held at GMC Doda and CHC Bhaderwah on the occasion. Seminars, Debates, Quiz, painting Competitions were held in the health and educational institutions to create awareness on the deadly disease.
