Srinagar, Mar 12: Army on Sunday said they have recovered two kilograms of narcotics, two pistols and an improvised explosive device (IED) from Jhangar, Naushera sector of Rajouri district, officials said.
Lt Col Devender Anand, Defence Public Relation Officer, Jammu, told Rising Kashmir that based on intelligence inputs, Army conducted operations near the Line of Control at Jhangar, Naushera (J&K) on Friday.
“During the operations, two sophisticated Pistols, two kgs Narcotics and a two kg IED were recovered at the specific location,” he said.
Lt. Col Anand said this operation has averted a major incident which could have been initiated by perpetrators using the weapons and the IED, funded by the narco terrorists.
Earlier on March 3,, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday recovered seven kilograms of heroin, over Rs 2 crore cash and a pistol from the house of a notorious drug peddler along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch.
Police along with other agencies had raided the house of Rafi near the LoC on specific information, leading to the recovery of seven kgs of heroin, over Rs 2 crore and a pistol with one magazine and 10 rounds and seven rounds of SLR.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said they have busted a hideout in Handwara village and recovered arms, and ammunition from the spot.
A police spokesman in a statement said that on 11 March 2023, a search was conducted by Handwara Police in ShalnarHangnikoot.
” During a search of the area, an old dump of arms and ammunition was unearthed which included 01 AK 47 rifle with 02 magazines and 75 rounds, 10 grenades, 26 UBGL grenades, 08 UBGL boosters, 02 Flame throwers, 05 Rocket shells, and 03 rocket boosters,” he said.
The spokesman said that based on this, FIR no. 19/2023 has been registered at Police Station Vilgam under relevant sections of law and investigation initiated.
