Srinagar, Sep 20: The Inter-university volleyball tournament concluded at University of Kashmir with GDC Ganderbal lifting the trophy while defeating GDC Anantnag in the finals on Tuesday.
As per the officials the final match was played between GDC Ganderbal and GDC Anantnag whereat GDC Ganderbal defeated GDC Anantnag in 03 straight sets.
A total of 37 teams from degree colleges of Kashmir participated in the tournament organised by the varsity’s Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES).
The award-distribution ceremony was attended by Prof Adil Amin Kak, Dean School of Arts, Languages and Literature, and Mashkoor Ahmad Zargar (JKPS) SP Hazratbal, besides students, faculty and other officials of the DPES.
On the occasion Coordinator DPES, Dr Musavir gave an overview of the sports activities and tournaments in the pipeline.
Prof Adil and Mashkoor underscored the need to tap the sports skills of students with an aim to make a mark at national and international levels. They congratulated the finalist teams.
The tournament was coordinated by MuneerAlam, volleyball coach of the University.
