Baramulla, Dec 21: Authorities in Baramulla have declared the entire road stretch from the highway crossing to GMC as a ‘No Parking Zone’ after persistent complaints and traffic disruptions caused by illegal parking and roadside vending.
Citing Section 122 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Section 14 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), officials took this measure to address the recurrent issue of blocked roads affecting the approach to GMC Baramulla from the national highway.
An order, issued by the Additional District Magistrate Baramulla under no DCB/PS/6504-08, said that numerous complaints from the public highlighted the challenges arising from unauthorized parking of private vehicles and the installation of vendor carts along this road stretch.
“Complaints are pouring in from the general public that the approach road to GMC Baramulla from the national highway often remains blocked due to illegal parking of private vehicles, installation of carts by vendors on the said road stretch,” it reads. “With the result, the movement of ambulances and other vehicles carrying patients gets hampered causing delay in treatment.”
It said the issue has become a nuisance and has many times invited criticism from attendants of the patients in particular and the public in general.
“Now, in view of above, the entire road stretch from National Highway crossing to GMC Baramulla is declared as No Parking Zone in pursuance of Section 122 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Section 14 CrPc,” the order reads.
Authorities said that to implement this decision, the Station House Officer of Police Station Baramulla has been directed to enforce the order diligently.
Tehsildar Baramulla and the Executive Officer of MC Baramulla will conduct joint visits during morning hours to support the SHO in implementing the directive effectively, they said.
