Srinagar, Dec 26 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit Rajouri-Poonch on Wednesday following the recent terror attack on army vehicle that claimed the lives of four soldiers and will also assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The defence minister will also hold meetings with top security officials regarding the measures being taken to deal with the situation amid the ongoing anti-terror operation in the Rajouri-Poonch region. He is likely interact with local civilians during his visit.
Earlier on Monday, Army Chief General Manoj Pande visited Rajouri-Poonch and reviewed the situation with top Army officers and the measures taken to bolster the security grid.
Meanwhile security forces continue searching for the terrorists who were responsible for the ambush.
The incident occurred in the Dhera Ki Gali area of Rajouri on December 21 when terrorists ambushed two army vehicles, resulting in the death of four soldiers. The subsequent anti-terror operation in Rajouri and Poonch led to the questioning of several locals. In response to the civilian deaths, the government has ordered a comprehensive probe into the incident and announced compensation and job assistance for the affected families.
