JAMMU, Dec 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasised the need for unity against terrorism in the region, stating that 20-25 terrorists cannot intimidate the large population of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at an event commemorating ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ at Jammu, LG Sinha stressed the importance of dismantling the entire ecosystem supporting terrorism in the Union Territory.
“If 2-4 terrorists coming from outside (Pakistan) try to terrorise people of a village of 2000 population, disturb peace and create hurdles in development and progress of India, the people must be united,” said LG Manoj Sinha, referencing a recent incident in Poonch where five army personnel were killed.
While not explicitly naming any specific area, LG Sinha called on the people to inform security forces about terrorists attempting to disrupt peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir. He urged citizens to reject terror activities and support security forces in thwarting the evil designs of those trying to disturb the region’s peace.
During the event, LG Sinha paid his respects to the Sahibzades, the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, describing them as the epitome of courage, bravery, and sacrifice. The LG participated in a function at Gurudwara, Bhagwati Nagar, where he unveiled a statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji, a disciple of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
“The martyrdom day of Sahibzades is an occasion to remember the contribution of our revered Sikh Gurus to the nation,” remarked LG Sinha. He highlighted the commitment of the Union Territory administration to promoting Punjabi language in education and acknowledged the implementation of the Anand Marriage Act in Jammu and Kashmir.
LG Sinha also mentioned the restoration of the shrine of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji in Reasi, emphasizing its significance as a spiritual place for devotees and tourists from across the country. The LG commended the collective effort of the society in paying respect to the Great Gurus and Sahibzades and reiterated the commitment to the task of nation-building.
