Baramulla, Dec 28: Secretary Tourism and Culture, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah on Thursday said the primary goal of the Public Darbar is to bring the administration to the people’s doorsteps to facilitate easier access to government welfare and development programs.
The Secretary said this while chairing a public darbar in Chijhama, Baramulla, to address public issues, assess concerns, and review ongoing development works in the area.
The event saw the participation of Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina, Block Development Council member, Shabir Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, district officers, PRIs, social activists, and locals.
During the darbar, PRIs and the general public raised a variety of demands and grievances, focusing on developmental and administrative issues specific to the region. Some key demands included tapping into the tourism potential in Rafiabad, establishing a drug de-addiction centre and a mini-secretariat in Rohama tehsil, completing the Community Health Center (CHC) at Dangiwacha, setting up an ATM at Hadipora, addressing sanitation and bathroom facilities, installing signage on the Ladoo Ladoora trek route, resolving water filtration issues in Hadipora, and establishing a children’s park in the Kandi belt of Rafiabad.
Dr Abid attentively listened to the grievances and demands raised by the public and assured prompt redressal through the officers present in the darbar. He directed the officers to address and expedite the resolution of all remaining issues highlighted by the public representatives on a priority basis.
Before addressing public concerns, the Secretary inspected stalls set up by various departments, including Education, Agriculture, Health, ICDS, and Food Supplies. These stalls showcased a wide range of government schemes, services, and facilities aimed at benefiting the general public.
