A private educational institute in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has voluntarily handed over at least 81 Kanals of state land to the revenue authorities, an official said.
A revenue official told Rising Kashmir that the school authorities handed over at least 81 kanals of state land to the revenue authorities in Humlina locality of Sopore.
“The educational institution was using the state land as playfields and today they vacated the area on their own,” he said.
The official said the land has now been handed over to Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
“The 81 kanals consisted of two playfields. We have handed over the playfields to the sports council so that both the students and locals can use it for sports activities,” the official further added.
He said that around 300 kanals of state land have been retrieved in Sopore town in a week’s time and the process is still going on.
