Srinagar, Aug 28: The Peoples Conference (PC) has unveiled its first list of candidates for the upcoming Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections. The initial list features seven candidates representing various constituencies across the valley.
Abdul Gani Vakil has been nominated for the Rafiabad constituency, Nasir Ahmed Laway for Kulgam, Abid Hussain Ansari for Zadibal, Irfan Matoo for Eidgah, Dr. Bashir Ahmed Chalkoo for Uri, Asif Lone for Baramulla, and Muhammad Hamza Lone for Gurez. These candidates will be representing the Peoples Conference in the forthcoming elections, as the party aims to strengthen its presence in the region.
The J&K assembly elections are scheduled to commence on September 18. To ensure a secure and smooth conduct of the elections, approximately 600 additional companies of security forces will be deployed across various parts of the union territory.
The elections are expected to be a significant political event, with major parties like the National Conference, Congress, and CPI (M) forming a pre-poll alliance to contest all 90 seats.
However, there will be friendly contests on five seats among these allied parties. This coalition is expected to challenge the other parties, including the Peoples Conference, as they vie for a strong foothold in the region’s political landscape.
