Jammu, Oct 27: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President, Raman Bhalla, accompanied by several prominent Congress leaders, visited the villages affected by recent ceasefire violations from across the border by Pakistan. Expressing deep concern and sympathy for the affected residents, he demanded immediate action to ensure the safety and security of the people living in the border town.
During the visit, Bhalla was joined by PCC General Secretary Shashi Sharma, Councillor Kailash Saini, Bharat Bhushan Bunty, Councillor Yash Saini, Sarpanch Balbir Kour, Sarpanch Rinku Langeh, and others. Bhalla urged the government to intensify efforts to safeguard the lives and property of the residents in the border areas. He called upon the district administration to provide essential amenities to the affected families and offer all possible assistance to help them cope with the situation.
Addressing the affected families, the Congress leader said the people of Jammu and Kashmir stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time. He strongly condemned the ceasefire violations by Pakistan and stressed the need to silence the guns along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. Bhalla criticized both the Central and state governments for their response to the ceasefire violations, calling on the BJP-led NDA dispensation to find a lasting solution to the issue.
Expressing shock over the deliberate shelling of civilian areas, especially in Arnia village, Bhalla denounced the cowardly acts of the Pakistani Army. He described the attacks on innocent border residents as desperate attempts by Pakistan to divert attention from its internal crises and failures. He said Pakistan’s efforts to misguide Kashmiri youth had failed, leading to its resorting to such tactics.
During interactions with the affected families, Bhalla listened to their grievances and assured them of his full support. He demanded comprehensive assistance from the government to address the challenges faced by the border residents, including the loss of livestock and damage to crops due to the constant shelling. He also called for the provision of 5 marla plots in safer locations for the border villages and an increase in ex-gratia and relief for the victims of Pakistani firing incidents.
