Srinagar, Mar 10: Lashing out at the National Conference, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference President Sajad Gani Lone on Sunday said the NC is putting on a “drama” and that the party was part of the People’s Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration for power, not for the sake of the people and Article 370.
Addressing a gathering in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Sajad said, “I was well aware of their policies and parted ways on time by quitting the PAGD”.
“Separating from the PAGD was the right decision at the right time as I was well aware of their policies. They are making a mockery of people as they have remained in power for around 40 years and what have they done for the people of Kashmir,” he said.
The PC president, while lambasting the NC vice president Omar Abdullah, said he is “very arrogant”, adding that he must understand that they “won” the election when 95 percent of people boycotted the polls.
Criticising the NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar, Lone said the father-son duo are “delivering speeches in public and making fools out of them”.
“We sent them to parliament, but they have failed to bring any projects for the Kashmir Valley. Also, RTI revealed that the three MPs of the NC have only asked 15–20 questions in the house; they are vocal among the people but remain silent in parliament where voices are being heard. Their MPs have never opposed the revocation of the special status of J&K,” he said.
Sajad added, “Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah are the ones who sent Kashmiris to jails. National Conference has only sent people to jails or beaten them during their tenure.”
He said the “development of dignity” is the slogan of the People’s Conference, which promises to boost tourism once it comes to power. “We want to live our lives with dignity. The day we get freedom from them, Kashmir will reach new heights,” he added.
Sajad urged people to give him a chance to go to Parliament, saying Kashmir needs someone who can become their voice in the house where voices are being heard. He promised them that once entering Parliament, he would reshape north Kashmir, as this place has great potential for tourism.
“Who will go to Parliament to tell them we have issues? NC is sending MPs there, but they remain silent. I am the son of a lion and will roar there,” he told the gathering.
