Jammu, Nov 08: To promote national unity, peace and integrity in Kashmir, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is going to organise Kashmiri Youth Exchange Programme at Chennai in which over 132 youth of Kashmir from 6 worst terrorism affected districts of have been selected to participate.
The Kashmir youth to participate in the ‘Kashmiri Youth Exchange Programme’ at Chennai beginning tomorrow have been selected by the Home Ministry from Anantanag, Kupwara, Baramulla, Budgam, Srinagar and Pulwama.
Twelve (12) escorting officers of CRPF and NYKS will also take part in the seven days long programme which will begin tomorrow and will continue till 15th of November at Government Youth Hostel, Adyar, Chennai.
The ‘Kashmiri Youth Exchange Programme’ has been organized by MHA in collaboration with Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai.
“The objective of the program is to promote national unity, integrity and peace among the young people in Kashmir Valley, and to provide opportunities to the participants to visit different places of cultural, industrial, historical, religious and educational interest in the country,” the spokesman said.
The ‘Kashmiri Youth Exchange Programme’ will also help the participants to develop an appreciative knowledge so that they understand their surroundings, misconceptions, gaps and situations as that are prevailing in Kashmir Valley, he said.
The programme organized by the Home Ministry will also help the Kashmir youth to share the information on tourism, cuisine, culture and handicrafts and other products of Kashmir Valley, he said.
It will also provide an opportunity to the Kashmir youth to understand, appreciate and compare each other’s understandings on socio-cultural, religious-political, economic as well as environmental situation.
More importantly, this programme will also provide information and knowledge to the youth of Kashmir on constitution of India, duties and responsibility of a citizen, National Integration, Patriotism and Nation Development, he said.
