Kathua, March 10: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Sub Office Kathua organized a multilingual mushaira at Vishavkarma Mandir Kathua here on Friday in which over 23 poets from Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts participated. The mushaira was conducted under the direction of the Secretary of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Bharat Singh.
“Kartar Verma, President Vishavkarma Mandir Kathua Kathua was the chief guest on the occasion who got awestruck after witnessing the world-class mushaira by the seasonal poets,” the JKAACL said in a statement, adding that Verma appreciated the way JKAACL presented the mushaira.
“Culture is a binding factor that ties people together. Our culture and tradition is our face and it is our moral responsibility to preserve it,” Verma said, adding that such initiatives always take the culture to the next level of preservation of arts.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjeev Gupta, SOCA, JKAACL Sub-Office, Kathua said the academy is making its best efforts for the preservation and promotion of the art and culture of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Jammu is very rich in terms of performing arts and the motive of the academy is to take our culture to every house so that the younger generation gets known by its roots. Today’s mushaira was such an example,” Gupta said.
The poets included Santosh Ria, Diman, Dharamveer, Guru Par, Paramjeet Sharma, Mohammad Showket, Balak Ram, Madan Lal Toofan, Sham Lal Khajuria, Kuldeep Kippi, Anu Gupta, Khajoor Singh, Karamdin Chopra, Sunil Dutt, Sham Narayan Mehta, Dr Usha Monga, Tilak Raj, Sumbria, Usha Kiran Kiran, Saroj Bala, Sunita Sharma, Jonus Abrar and Ritu Raj Sharma. The mushaira was conducted by the Sahitya Akademi awardee Vijay Sharma.
