Srinagar, Nov 25: Reacting to the issues faced by the farmers in getting benefits under PM-KISAN, the Agriculture Department Kashmir has asked the eligible farmers to link their revenue records with Aadhaar and do other formalities to get the benefits under the scheme.
Earlier, many farmers from different areas of the valley said they did not get the benefits of the PM-KISAN scheme despite the fact that they had completed the application forms on time.
“We applied for the scheme a year ago and we have been waiting to get the benefit. We are not sure what is the issue. We are eligible farmers and have submitted the Aadhaar cards,” said Manzoor Ahmad, a farmer from Baramulla.
There are many farmers like him who are yet to receive their benefits and some are yet to get the second installment due to one or other reasons.
Reacting over the issue faced by the farmers in getting the monthly benefits, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chaudhary Muhammad Iqbal, said in the first instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi was given to 6 lakh and 64 thousand farmers by the Government of India.
The Direct Benefit Transfers scheme was launched in December 2018. It is a Central Sector scheme with 100% funding from the Government of India.
“Later the guidelines were issued and some farmers were excluded. The farmers of higher economic status were declared ineligible for benefit under the scheme,” he said.
In Jammu and Kashmir, there are a total of over 13 lakh families engaged in the farming sector which includes 7 lakh and 30 thousand in Kashmir valley alone.
Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 6,000 (per year) in three equal installments is provided to all land-holding farmer families. When this scheme was launched, all Deputy Commissioners were made Nodal Officers while the Chief Agriculture Officers in districts worked as member secretaries.
The Director Agriculture Kashmir Chaudhary Mohammad Iqbal said that all the beneficiaries/farmers should do the seeding of the revenue records with their Aadhaar cards and the Revenue Department has been working on it.
“Only those farmers will get the benefits who have done the seeding of their revenue records post 2019 and till date and the revenue department is on it. Once the seeding is completed all the eligible farmers will get the benefits,” he said.
The director said the farmers have to follow these steps to receive Rs 2,000 in their account. “Non-compliance with e-KYC norms may be a reason for non-receipt, as the government has made it mandatory for all PM-KISAN Yojana beneficiaries,” Iqbal said.
“Some farmers do not enter details of their land. And they did not upload and save documents related to land. The farmers are directed to Visit the official website www.pmkisan.gov.in,” he said.
The director appealed to concerned officials in the districts to ensure that all the formalities of farmers are completed timely so that no farmer is left without getting the benefits.
