KVIB launches ‘Gandhi Katha’ from Pinjoora

Srinagar, Oct 04: The J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board in connection with 153rd Gandhi Jayanti launched fortnight long novel contact programme Gandhi-Katha at Grahmeen Level from village Pinjoora in Tangmarg District Baramulla. The contact programme Gaon-Main Gandhi Katha is aimed at highlighting the philosophy of Gandhi, like Ahinsa (non-violence), Khadi Swadeshi, Swatchta, Panchayati Raj and encouragement of rural artisans and weavers through such programme. The series of programmes was launched by Secretary/CEO J&K KVIB in presence of Dy.CEO J&K KVIB-KD & Dy.CEO (P/R/S).
The programmes have been launched on the directions of Hon’ble Vice Chairperson Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat and are personally being monitored by her with the aim to percolate the benefits of the schemes at Grahmeen level.
Secretary J&K KVIB while highlighting the relevant aspects of Gandhian philosophy said that as Gandhi believed that Hindustan lives in rural areas, as such it is the mandate of KVIB to reach out to the rural population in hinterland and far flung areas. He enjoined upon all the district officers of KVIB to continue with such programmes in coordination with Rural Development Department, Handicrafts Department with the facilitation of PRIs.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer KD on the occasion while highlighting the teachings and values of the Mahatma Gandhi under the theme Gandhi Katha stressed upon the local produce and its local marketing to economically boost the villages which shall economically empower the local youth. The Gandhian ideology was that “the prosperous village will ensure prosperous towns and cities which shall in turn make the country prosperous at all levels”.
The DDCs, Sarpanchs and Panchs while speaking on the occasion emphasized on the need to sensitize the rural area population about the schemes being implemented by the J&K KVIB for the unemployed youth/educated youth of the block/area to get the benefits of the schemes to establish their income generating ventures and create employment.
