Baramulla, Aug 26: Fayaz Ahmad Malik, widely known as Kaka Ji, has been re-elected as the President of Sopore Fruit Mandi in a resounding victory here in north Kashmir’s Sopore area.
Sopore Fruit Mandi, the second-largest fruit market in Asia, witnessed elections recently. Earlier the Fruit Association Sopore had issued an official notification for the elections, drawing the participation of two determined candidates who put forth their nomination papers.
The day of the election unfolded amid an air of festivity, with fruit orchardists and growers eagerly engaging in the democratic process. The vibrant scenes within the bustling fruit Mandi were characterised by early-morning queues and an atmosphere filled with cheers and jubilations.
Fayaz Ahmad Malik secured an impressive victory with a commanding lead of more than 100 votes against the opponent Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray.
Reflecting on his triumph, Malik expressed his gratitude to the people and acknowledged their pivotal role in his success. He attributed his win to their resolute backing and unwavering support and highlighted the “integral role” they played in securing his re-election. He urged all stakeholders to swiftly resume their activities.
Fayaz acknowledged the challenges that the campaign presented, underlining the uphill battle he faced in clinching victory once more. He vowed to remain steadfast and work diligently to foster the growth and advancement of the fruit mandi.
“My priority will remain centered on the betterment of the fruit industry and the welfare of those associated with it,” Malik added.
