Jammu, 10 April: ADGP Armed J&K Anand Jain Thursday chaired a meeting to review preparations for the forthcoming Inter-Battalion and Inter-Zone Sports Meet 2025, scheduled to be held in Jammu from April 21 to 30.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Inter-Battalion Sports Meet will take place on 21st and 25th April respectively, while those for the Inter-Zone Sports Meet are slated for April 27 and April 30. In his address, the ADGP Armed emphasised the importance of these events, which are part of the J&K Police’s Annual Sports Calendar. He noted that the primary objective is to identify and nurture athletic talent across all wings of the J&K Police, enabling selection to represent the force at state and national-level competitions as part of the Central Sports Team.
The meets will feature a wide range of disciplines, including Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Tug of War, Athletics (Shot-put, Javelin, Discus, Long and High Jump), Shooting, Badminton, Table Tennis, Wushu, Weightlifting, Fencing, Archery, Swimming, Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Pencak Silat, Taekwondo, and Arm Wrestling. Competitions will be held for both men and women across the Zones: Armed, SDRF/HG, Training, and INTELSECT (comprising CID, Crime, Telecom, Traffic, Security, Railways, and SSG). An estimated 1,500 to 2,000 players, including Gazetted Officers, are expected to participate. The ADGP highlighted that such initiatives promote a strong sporting culture within the force and serve as a platform for identifying hidden talent. Earlier, Kuldeep Hondoo, DySP Sports APHQ, gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining the formation of various committees and sub-committees tasked with ensuring the successful conduct of the event. The meeting was attended by senior officers including Vivek Gupta, , IGP Railways J&K, Suliman Choudhary, IGP Traffic/Tech Service, Sarah Rizvi, DIG IR Jammu, Rashmi Wazir, DIG Security J&K, Sandeep Wazir, AIG Personnel PHQ, Rajesh Kumar Sharma, SSP Security Jammu, Dalip Kumar, SO to ADGP Armed J&K; Manoj Pandita, SSP, AIG Training/Communication, PHQ, Dr. Minakshi Kotwal, Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital Jammu, and all Commanding Officers of Jammu city-based Battalions, as well as Srinagar city-based Commandants via video conference.
