JAMMU, JAN 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has officially concluded the annual revision of the Panchayat Electoral Rolls with the publication of the final rolls, marking January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date.
The revision process, which began on November 11, 2024, with the release of draft electoral rolls, saw several updates, including additions, deletions, and corrections to the entries. A total of 341,072 new voters were added, while 110,768 names were removed due to death, relocation, or other reasons. Additionally, corrections were made to the details of 10,726 voters, and 31,180 voters were transposed to other Panchayat Halqas/Wards.
The final Panchayat electoral roll now lists a total of 7,000,670 voters, comprising 3,566,475 males, 3,434,048 females, and 147 third-gender voters. These rolls are available at the offices of District Panchayat Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and Panchayat Block Election Officers (PBEOs).
The Commission expressed its appreciation for the cooperation of all stakeholders, including political parties, District Panchayat Election Officers, Panchayat Observers, EROs, AEROs, PBEOs, and especially the youth, who turned out in large numbers to register for the Panchayat Electoral Rolls.
It is important to note that the process of revising the Panchayat Electoral Rolls is an ongoing exercise. Eligible voters who will be 18 years of age as of January 1, 2025, and whose names are not included in the final rolls, can still enroll by filling out the required form and submitting it to the concerned ERO/AERO.
