H&H Deptt organizes exhibition, awareness camp for Cooperatives in Pulwama

Pulwama, Jan 28: A day long exhibition cum awareness camp for the Cooperatives of Pulwama district was organised on Saturday by Handicrafts and Handloom (H&H) Department Pulwama with the theme ‘Encouraging Cooperatives towards Self Reliance’ , here.
An overwhelming response and participation of Handloom/, Handicrafts Cooperative members of the district was observed, besides a large number of artisans and weavers across the district attended the camp.
The primary objective of the event was to make local artisans and weavers aware about the government schemes and initiatives related to Handicraft and Handlooms.
The Camp was inaugurated by Hakeem Riyaz ul Haq, Dy. Director (Administration) of Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir in presence of Publicity and Exhibition Officer, Assistant Director Handicrafts and Handloom Pulwama.
Asstt. Registrar Cooperatives Deptt, Manager ACC Bank Pulwama, Asstt. Registrar, INDUSCOS Handicrafts & Handloom Deptt were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Dy. Director (Admin) Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir encouraged the cooperative societies, SHGs for adopting this heritage craft to earn their livelihood. He emphasized for progressive work culture in nurturing this trade.
He informed that eight basic services of the Department have been integrated with JK SINGLE WINDOW SYSTEM, besides online services are also available on the portal.
Hakeem Riyaz lauded the efforts of the Handicrafts & Handloom department in reaching out to the artisans and weavers besides disseminating the information regarding active schemes of the department.
He suggested various reforms in uplifting the conditions of our artisans and weavers and encouraged people to adopt this trade for bringing change in their lives.
Other guest speakers present in the event delivered their lectures on the theme and sensitized the participants about various flagship programmes and schemes available in the department, with special reference to Cooperatives.
AD Handicrafts & Handloom Pulwama gave a brief presentation on the Formation of Cooperatives and benefits provided to them by the department after welcoming the guests and participants in the programme.
He said such camps shall continue to be organised in the district for general publicity of the schemes of the Department. He added that marketing avenues and opportunities have increased manifold by the innovative interventions of the department.
Various Cooperative societies of the District associated with the Handicrafts and Handloom Deptt were presented Certificate of Appreciation as a bravo gesture by the Chief Guest for their outstanding performance during 2022-23.
