JAMMU, Jan 27: In a landmark move prioritizing patient care, the government has decided to deploy esteemed doctors from Jammu AIIMS to serve patients at the District Hospital (DH) Samba. The impending opening of AIIMS in the Vijaipur area of Samba District marks a significant development in the region’s healthcare landscape. The facility is nearing completion, with cutting-edge machines and equipment arriving to equip this prestigious health institute in Jammu.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Samba, Abhishek Sharma, revealed to Rising Kashmir, “We requested the AIIMS administration to facilitate the attendance of renowned doctors at District Hospital-Samba, and the administration has agreed. The distinguished doctors engaged by AIIMS in Jammu are anticipated to commence their services at DH Samba next week.”
The initial focus of the AIIMS doctors at DH Samba will be on Outpatient Department (OPD) services. They will attend to patients with Nephrology, Diabetic Psychiatric, and Thyroid conditions. Subsequently, the services will extend to include Cardiology-related patient care.
The schedule for the OPD services will be released shortly, as confirmed by the Samba DC. Notably, the expertise of these AIIMS-recruited doctors surpasses that available even in Jammu’s Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H).

DC Abhishek Sharma emphasised, “The decision to utilize the services of renowned AIIMS doctors for District Hospital Samba aims to provide high-tech healthcare services to the people of Samba and alleviate the potential burden on the upcoming AIIMS.”
