Baramulla, July 13: Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla on Thursday successfully performed its first case of fixing a fractured neck of femur using an innovative technique and advanced instrumentation known as the Femoral Neck System.
A health care official said that this minimally invasive procedure, requiring just a 1cm incision, marks a significant milestone in orthopedic surgery at GMC Baramulla.
Led by Dr. Ishtiyaq Abdullah, Assistant Professor, the medical team comprising Dr. Mubashir Nazir, Dr. Syed Shahnawaz, and dedicated technical staff accomplished this feat.
Medical Superintendent Dr.Parvaiz Masoodi said that traditionally, such fractures were treated using Hemi arthroplasty or multiple cannulated cancellous screws.
“This newly introduced system promises enhanced patient recovery with minimal postoperative scarring and disability,” he said.
Dr. Parvaiz said that the successful implementation of this technique sets the stage for future advancements in orthopedic trauma cases at GMC.
