Srinagar, Feb 12: With an aim of lure more tourists by beautifying Dal Lake in Srinagar, the Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA) has started installing aerators in the lake.
“The work on the installation of these aerators was started a few weeks ago, and so far, many fountains have been successfully installed,” an official from LC&MA told Rising Kashmir.
He said the work on the installation of aerators is in full swing and will be completed in the coming days.
The new fountains have been bought form the foreign countries, and the estimated cost of the project is around Rs 8 crore, the official informed.
After the completion of this project, it will add new life to the lake as these coloured fountains make the lake more beautiful.
These fountains are totally different from the existing ones. The department believes that this project will attract more tourists from across the world.
Aside from the installation of modern fountains, several other projects are being considered to facelift Dal Lake.
Dal Lake would undergo a significant makeover in the future, including the development of “untapped” parks next to the lake and the installation of more fountains at key locations to attract more tourists.
The main goal of these development initiatives is to open doors to additional employment prospects while paving the way for more inbound and outbound travel, which will improve the tourism industry.
According to the senior officer, the department has identified six locations for fountains, ranging from Dalgate to NPL Bund. More fountains would be installed in stages at locations where there is a high volume of visitors.
The official said that Dal Lake was their priority because this spot is popular with all visitors. To make this neat and clean, the department recently issued a tender for the installation of STPs in the lake to connect all 650 houseboats with STPs.
