Srinagar, Oct 30: Sanjeev Kumar, who topped the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) Combined Competitive Examinations (CCE) – 2023, stated that hard work is the only way to achieve success. Hailing from the Samba district of Jammu, this was Kumar’s third attempt at the exam, and his determination finally paid off with the top rank.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Kumar shared that he followed a disciplined study routine and often referred to previous exam papers for guidance. “I wasn’t expecting to rank first, as no one can predict the results. It’s all due to the grace of Almighty. I never counted my study hours, but I made sure to visit the library every day,” he said.
Kumar scored 1,089 points in the open merit category and credited his success to the support of his family, teachers, and mentors. “This achievement is not just mine; it belongs to everyone who stood by me throughout this journey,” he remarked.
He encouraged those who did not pass the exam this year to stay hopeful and not lose heart. Kumar’s journey began after completing his engineering degree. He emphasized the importance of consistency in studying. “I have been focused on my studies since finishing my engineering degree to achieve my dream,” he explained.
He also noted that it is essential for aspirants to engage in physical activities to stay fit. “In the early stages of my preparation, I neglected exercise, but later I realized its importance. Staying physically fit keeps you mentally sharp,” Kumar added.
Kumar stayed away from social media during his preparation, finding it more productive to study from books and other physical materials. Besides his studies, he also taught at an academy in Jammu, helping many students prepare for competitive exams.
“Determination and consistency can help anyone achieve their goals. If you remain consistent, nothing can stop you from reaching your destination,” he stated.
Kumar expressed gratitude to all who supported him throughout his journey. He advised aspirants to focus on the syllabus and practice previous exam papers to succeed. “To achieve success in any exam, you need to maintain consistency throughout your preparations. Study hours may vary, but daily studying is crucial. Consistency is the backbone of everything, and parental support is also important,” he added.
The CCE-2023 Preliminary Examination took place on October 15, 2023, with 18,882 candidates participating. Out of these, 2,144 candidates qualified for the Mains Examination, which occurred from March 26 to April 3, 2024, at centers in Jammu and Srinagar.
