Srinagar, Dec 16: People’s Conference (JKPC) chairman Sajad Lone on Monday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of failing to stand firm on key issues including statehood.
Speaking to KNS, Lone directly criticised Abdullah, alleging that his leadership lacked seriousness in addressing the political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “If restoring statehood was a priority, Omar Abdullah would have united all parties, including the BJP, to press the demand before the central government. But instead, we see no real action or commitment from him,” he said.
The MLA Handwara accused the CM of mismanaging governance during his tenure and claimed that this has carried over into the current political environment. “Even now, there are ministers and officials who misuse their power to target individuals, block payments and further alienate the people. This stems from a legacy of poor governance under leaders like Omar Abdullah,” Sajad said.
On Abdullah’s comments on Congress election results, the PC chief said the CM was mixing regional and national aspirations, which is a “recipe for disaster”.
He argued that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been let down by leaders who failed to prioritise local issues and instead focus on appeasing national parties for personal political gain.
Lone further alleged that Omar Abdullah has not taken a strong stand against the BJP. “This is not about fighting for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It seems more about appeasing the central leadership, including Prime Minister Modi,” he said. (KNS)
