Clinical J&K outplays Odisha by 13 runs

kolkata, Dec 10: Clinical Jammu and Kashmir defeated Odisha in a close contest by a margin of 13 runs as Chitra Singh Jamwal, Bawandeep Kaur, skipper Rudrakshi Chib and the bowlers sparkled in the Women’s U-23 T20 Trophy at Barasat Cricket Ground, Kolkata on Sunday.
Chasing a modest total of 117 runs, Odisha fell short of 13 runs to lose the match by a narrow margin.
Skipper Subhra Nirjharini top scored with 29 runs off 32 balls with 3 boundaries, while Kusum Tiriya contributed 25 runs to the total. contributed. Poojarani Das and Alipsa Biswal also contributed 17 and 10 runs to the total respectively.
For J&K, Mariya Noorain and Arveen Riyaz took 2 wickets each, while Rudrakshi Chib, Ananaya Sharma and Chitra Singh Jamwal claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat first, J&K scored a modest total of 117 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Talented top-order batter Chitra Singh Jamwal was the top scorer with unconquered 48 runs off 46 balls, studded with 6 delectable boundaries, while promising opening batter Bawandeep Kaur scored explosive 34 runs off 31 balls with 5 fours and one six. Skipper Rudrakshi Chib also contributed 24 runs off 32 balls including 2 boundaries, while Sheena Saraf, Aditya Aryan and Ananaya Sharma were dismissed without scoring.
Suryasnata Swain, though slightly expensive, was the most successful bowler for Odisha, taking 2 wickets by conceding 30 runs in her 4 overs, while Subhra Nirjharini Swain and Sarada Mahanand claimed one wicket each.
The J&K team is being accompanied by Irshad Hassan as Manager, Meenu Singh Salathia as Head Coach, Anuradha Sharma as Co-Manager, Summayah Jan as Bowling Coach, Satika Sharma as Trainer, Mujtaba Wani as Video Analyst and Bisma Gulzar as Physiotherapist.
