Jammu, Oct 09: The Apni Party has urged the youth to adopt sportsmanship and participate in different sports activities in order to stay fit and away from drug addiction which is responsible for multiple criminal acts in Jammu.
While addressing a meeting, the party’s SC State President, Bodh Raj Bhagat said youth should adopt sportsmanship for mental and physical development.
“The modern lifestyle has given rise to many unhealthy things leading to multiple ailments at the younger age and on the other hand, the youth often indulge in drug addiction that is harmful for the future generation and for the entire society,” he said, adding that the youth should participate in different sports-related activities and educate their peers about the harmful effects of drug addiction.
Bhagat said the government should provide free-of-cost equipment, cricket kits, and volleyballs to the youth at the block level across Jammu and Kashmir to encourage them. He said the government must take the initiative by involving public representatives, members of civil society, and NGOs which are actively fighting against drug addiction/smuggling in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Apni Party leader suggested that seminars and playway methods should also be adopted to educate the younger generation in the villages. The meeting was also attended by SC Wing Provincial Secretary, Lab Ram, Apni Party senior leader, Joginder Lal Sangam and others.
