Srinagar, Oct 09: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Monday met a deputation of the trade federation of Handwara at the party headquarters here.
The delegation was headed by senior party leader and former minister Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan. Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani and Political Advisor to VP Mudassar Shahmiri were also present on the occasion, the NC said in a statement.
Among various other issues confronting the trade sector in Handwara, the visiting delegation discussed the lack of convenience and ease of doing business. “They said the stream rolling of J&K’s special status has not worked in favour of its economy. They further added that the data published from the government quarters and the plight of small & medium scale traders across J&K, particularly Handwara, puts a big question mark on the claims of the government,” the statement said, adding, “They lamented that the ruling party’s policies have not played off but have only increased insecurities of the people of the entire region.”
Omar assured the delegation members that the party would spare no effort to highlight their woes. “The party was committed to protecting the vital interests of the traders with the spirit of solidarity, service, brotherhood cooperation and mutual help,” the NC Vice President, as per the statement, said.
Meanwhile, NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Mohd Reyaz Khan in a tragic road accident at Chahchwah Sangaldan Tehsil Arnas Son of Maqbool Ahmed Khan Block President Dhonur and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family. In their messages, the duo prayed for peace to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with other members of the family.
In the condolence message, General Secretary Ali Mohammed Sagar, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra Additional General Secretaries, Rattan Lal Gupta Provincial President Jammu Province and Dr Shamshad Shan DDC Chairperson Ramban and District President Gool-Gulabgarh (Org) also expressed grief and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Senior leaders of the National Conference have also conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family. Those who prayed for peace to the departed soul, include: Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary, Abdul Gani Malik former minister and Zone President Udhampur Reasi and Babu Jagjeevan Lal former minister and District President Reasi.
