Varanasi, December 24: Paying rich tributes to the the freedom fighter, social reformer, Babu Shivnath Singh Ji , Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir UT Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that Babu Shivnath Singh Ji played a historic role in Champaran Satyagraha and promoted the idea of universal access to education and established a senior secondary school in 1945 to bring the quality education within the reach of all sections of society.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was addressing the commemorative event at Jagatpur, Varanasi, today.

The Lt Governor said, our forefathers like Babu Shivnath Singh were committed to the promotion and all-round development of the nation and the institutions founded by them are actively engaged in this task.
The sacrifice of our freedom fighters and their vision continues to be a great source of strength for the nation. The youth must follow their ideals and values to put the country on the path of Viksit Bharat,” the Lt Governor said.
Terming education and knowledge as a prerequisite for complete socio-economic equality, the Lt Governor said education is the only tool to transform a society.
Under the guidance of Hon’ble PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji, India is making impressive strides in new areas of knowledge connectivity. The entire nation is today working with one objective to make India self-reliant and a developed country by 2047, the Lt Governor said.
The Lt Governor shared the transformational journey in School and Higher Education in Jammu Kashmir. He also highlighted the College on Wheels initiative launched recently to provide the students an opportunity to learn beyond the walls of classrooms.
In his address, the Lt Governor also gave his suggestions on incorporating students feedback in the education system, organizing innovation competitions and to focus on inter-disciplinary education.
On the occasion, the Lt Governor also inaugurated the BBA and BFA blocks of the Jagatpur PG College. A publication, ‘Smruti Granth’ was also released.

LG Sinha pays tributes to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati
Paying rich tributes to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that Maharishi Dayanand was the pioneer of Swarajya and pledged to free the society from slave mentality. LG Sinha was attending the Vedic Mahotsav organized by Arya Samaj Ghazipur today.
The Vedic Mahotsav was organized to commemorate the 200th Birth Anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, the renowned philosopher, social reformer and leader who played a significant role in India’s freedom movement and shaped the young minds.
The Lt Governor paid tributes to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati. He said, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati revived the great knowledge traditions of Vedas, tirelessly worked to eradicate social evils, stereotypes and promoted women empowerment.
Addressing a public gathering, the Lt Governor observed that Arya Samaj, established by Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati has ensured that wisdom and values of great civilization of India enriches the society.
Appreciating the students and Acharayas for organising the Vedic Mahotsav, the Lt Governor said it is a matter of great pride that today our society, inspired by the glorious past and rich culture is scripting a new saga of development.
The Lt Governor said, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati united the people and awakened its collective consciousness.
Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, as the pioneer of Swarajya, pledged to free the society from slave mentality. He gave the slogan of moving back to the Vedas and worked to restore the glory of Indian culture. Hon’ble PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji is realizing the dreams of Maharishi Dayanand and building a prosperous and developed India, he added.
