Srinagar, June 07:As the annual AmarnathYatra approaches, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has assured that all necessary arrangements and preparations are being finalised. The pilgrimage, set to begin on June 29, will span 52 days, concluding on August 19.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, informed Rising Kashmir that comprehensive preparations are in place to ensure a smooth and secure Yatra. “We have finalised all facilities including accommodation, security, Wi-Fi installation, power and water supply, cleanliness, and medical services,” Bidhuri stated.
In a proactive measure to mitigate the impact of natural disasters, the administration has identified sensitive areas and relocated residents to safer locations. “The Yatra track from Kalimata to the Holy Cave, as well as the route from Dumail to Sangam, has been fully illuminated to aid the pilgrims,” Bidhuri added.
He said all facilities, including accommodation, security, installation of wi-fi, power and water supply, cleanliness and sanitation and medical facilities are completed in this regard.
“To overcome natural disasters, the administration has marked those sensitive or dangerous areas and has relocated all the people to safer places.
For the ease of Amarnath devotees, he said the government has fully illuminated for the ease of pilgrims as the Yatra preparations are in full swing.
“We have illuminated the Yatra track from Kalimata to Holy Cave besides from Dumail to Sangam amid high spirited Yatra preparations. All preparations put in place to ensure a smooth and safe,” he said.
The yatra can be undertaken through two routes, the traditional 48-km route through Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and the 14-km shorter but steep Baltal route in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.
Meanwhile, CCTV cameras and drones have been placed to monitor the pilgrimage throughout the twin routes to avert any security threat to the Yatris.
The annual pilgrimage will commence on June 29 and conclude on August 19, spanning 52 days. However, the first group of pilgrims will be flagged off from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on June 28.
The yatris from the Baltal and Nunwan base camps in Ganderbal and Anantnag districts, respectively, will begin their journey on the morning of June 29.
A senior police officer at PCR Kashmir confirmed to Rising Kashmir that more than 470 additional companies of various paramilitary forces will be deployed for the AmarnathYatra.
“Specialized forces like National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) & Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) will be deployed at vulnerable points to enhance overall safety measures,” he said.
