Srinagar, June 04: Special Road Opening Parties (ROPs) of security officers and smart vehicles would be deployed along the 270-kilometer Srinagar-Jammu highway during the annual AmarnathYatra, which begins on July 1, officials said on Sunday.
According to a senior police officer, special ROPs of security forces such as the CRPF, BSF, and Army will be posted along the NH44 Srinagar-Jammu route, and Smart vehicles will be deployed for the annual AmarnathYatra.
“The situation is under control, and high-tech equipment is being used to ensure the annual pilgrimage runs smoothly.” “We will provide three-tier security, as well as drones and CCTV surveillance, to ensure the success of the Yatra and to avoid any untoward incidents,” he stated.
‘’Apart from human intelligence, security agents will employ cutting-edge technology such as high-end drones and smart vehicles. Makeshift bunkers to keep track of the situation and streamline visitors,” he explained.
The officer stated that the ROPs have grown highly professional over time and that they are frequently supervised to maintain the degree of vigilance and ensure that the NH is fully dominated. He described the route as the valley’s lifeline, which must be secured.
“Each day Bomb Disposal Squats (BDS) will sanitize all the highways, roads, culverts etc. We make sure that before any movement is allowed, the road clearance is given after sanitization of vulnerable areas and spots,” he said.
“Special teams have been constituted to check the drone activity across the Yatra route and base camps. There will be round-the-clock patrolling of yatra routes by forces personnel during daytime and through 360-degree camera fitted Mobile Bunker Vehicles (MBVs),” the official said.
The top official said security forces are committed to facilitating the pilgrims and all security measures will be taken for a smooth pilgrimage in Kashmir. “No pilgrim vehicle will be allowed to mingle with civilian vehicles. There will be proper timing for pilgrim vehicles on all routes,” he said.
On Saturday, Inspector General of Border Security Forces (BSF), Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav said AmarnathYatra is a coordinated effort of different security agencies and is conducted under the supervision of J&K administration and the Police.
“We are ready to fulfill the role given to the BSF in the best possible way. We have made sufficient preparations for the upcoming yatra,”he said.
On June 01, Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh reviewed preparedness of security arrangements and deployment of personnel for the ShriAmarnathJiYatra- 2023 (SANJY). He said that all the arrangements for the deployment and distribution of manpower need to be synchronized at different levels for the conduct of the yatra.
DGP Singh said that adequate and effective deployments should be made on ground to address any vulnerability and to gaps if any. He emphasized for focus on ROPs, lateral deployment, QRTs, BD squad and added that adequate manpower has to be deployed to accomplish the task.
He directs for the workout of security preparedness en-route national highway in the districts. He emphasized that local and highway security grids need to be kept fully geared up at all levels. He also discussed traffic management on the National Highway.
