Bandipora, May 12: The KaloosaGurdal road in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, which was macadamised a few months ago, is now completely damaged. The road connects seven villages and acts as a crucial bypass for the Bandipora-Sopore highway, especially during traffic jams and other issues on the highway.
Local residents of the area while expressing their frustration and disappointment with the condition of the road told Rising Kashmir that it has made their daily commute a nightmare. “The road was macadamised just a few months ago, and now it’s completely destroyed. We are suffering a lot because of this. It’s difficult to travel to and from the villages, especially during emergencies,” said a local resident.
The locals also blamed the authorities for macadamizing the road during the off-season, which they say caused the damage. “The road was macadamized during the off-season, and now it is completely damaged. The government needs to hold the contractor accountable for the shoddy work,” said a local resident.
The locals have appealed to the authorities to take immediate action and repair the damaged road, which is causing them significant inconvenience and hardship. They have also urged the government to take steps to prevent such situations in the future and ensure that proper maintenance is carried out regularly.
“The damaged road has created a lot of problems for us. We request the concerned authorities to take immediate action and repair the road. We hope that the government will take steps to prevent such situations in the future and ensure that proper maintenance is carried out regularly,” another local resident said.
Executive Engineer PMGSY Bandipora while admitting that road was macadamised in off season said that the road will be repaired soon.
