Srinagar, Aug 21: Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”), one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, has announced the launch of its network in Phobrang village near the Indo-China border in Leh, making it the first network provider to offer connectivity in this remote region.
Airtel spokesman told Rising Kashmir that despite facing significant challenges, including navigating tough terrains, braving severe climatic conditions, and passing through highly sensitive zones, Airtel’s network roll-out team successfully executed the deployment.
“With this pioneering effort, Airtel has provided essential network access to both residents and visitors in this far-flung area, reaffirming its commitment to fostering connectivity in challenging terrains. This expansion will connect 2,000 households, allowing them to stay connected and enjoy Airtel’s value-added services,” he said.
Phobrang, one of the remotest villages on the border, is also home to India’s highest herbal garden, situated at an altitude of 15,000 feet above sea level.
