Srinagar, July 05: On the auspicious occasion of Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaj’s Prakash Parv, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi in Rainawari and Gurdwara Shadimarg Sahib in Pulwama to pay his respects.
The Lieutenant Governor conveyed his warm greetings to the people and offered prayers for peace, prosperity, happiness, and well-being for everyone.
During his address, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha praised the virtues of sacrifice, social justice, compassion, and universal brotherhood embodied by Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. He emphasized that the teachings of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji continue to guide humanity towards peace and virtuous living.
Highlighting the relevance of Guru Ji’s teachings in today’s world, the Lt. Governor underscored the importance of social equality, justice, and compassion. He expressed that surrendering to God and promoting harmony and unity in society, both internally and externally, are the foundation for spiritual enlightenment and godliness.
Promoting unity and inclusiveness, Lt. Governor Sinha urged people to work collectively towards building a society free from discrimination, upholding values such as social harmony, righteousness, truthfulness, fraternity, and universalism. He called for concerted efforts to uplift the underprivileged and foster their development.
Acknowledging the significant contributions of the Sikh community to nation-building, the Lt. Governor assured unwavering support from the administration in realizing their dreams and aspirations.
Across the Valley, the birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind Ji was celebrated with traditional fervor. Devotees gathered at the Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara to offer prayers, while other gurdwaras witnessed a large gathering of men, women, and children celebrating the occasion with zeal and enthusiasm.
The main religious functions at the Chatti Padshahi gurdwara featured Shabadh Kirtan (devotional hymns) and Langer (community meal), with special arrangements made by the authorities to facilitate the celebrations.
A Sikh devotee emphasized the importance of following Guru Ji’s footsteps and learning from his sacrifices for the betterment of humanity, irrespective of communities. The devotee stated that Guru Ji’s teachings remain relevant even in contemporary times, and prosperity awaits those who wholeheartedly embrace and apply these teachings.
As the celebrations concluded, attendees were inspired to uphold Guru Hargobind Ji’s teachings in their lives, fostering a spirit of unity, compassion, and equality in society.
