SRINAGAR, July 05: The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, on Wednesday visited the districts of Shopian and Pulwama in South Kashmir to conduct comprehensive security review meetings at the District Police Headquarters.
The meetings were attended by high-ranking officials from various security forces, including the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Kashmir Range, Shri Rayees Ahmad Bhat, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian, and Commanding Officer of CRPF 14 Bn.
In the meeting held in Shopian, the SSP provided a briefing on the modified joint area domination and zero terror plan. ADGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of gathering human intelligence (Humint) and collaborating with security forces to launch effective anti-terrorist operations. He further highlighted the need for taking preventive legal measures to curb recruitment into terrorist ranks. Each police officer in the district was assigned to work on different terror modules under the close supervision of the district SSP.
Following the meeting in Shopian, ADGP Kashmir proceeded to Pulwama district, coinciding with the visit of the Lieutenant Governor. There, he held a meeting with the DIG Police, Commanding Officers of CRPF’s 182 and 183 Battalions, SSP Pulwama, and other officers. ADGP Kashmir commended their relentless efforts in eliminating the remnants of terrorism and urged them to continue working together to carry out precision-based operations. He stressed the need for special teams and innovative mechanisms to ensure the neutralization of terrorists.
An overview of the districts was presented during the meetings, and specific guidelines were issued to the officers to achieve targeted outcomes. SSP Pulwama was specifically directed to identify and take strict action against Over Ground Workers (OGWs) involved in the recent recruitment of two individuals into terror ranks within the district.
During these meetings, ADGP Kashmir directed the implementation of additional security measures to prevent terror incidents. The process of identifying hybrid terrorists and taking appropriate actions was also discussed. ADGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of strengthening police-public relations and adopting a service-oriented policing approach to build trust and confidence among the general public.
The visit of ADGP Kashmir and the subsequent meetings in Shopian and Pulwama signify the ongoing commitment of the security forces in the region to combat terrorism effectively and ensure the safety and well-being of the local communities.
