Udhampur, Jan 15: Ranbir Singh Pathania, Spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), hailed the government’s proactive security policies, emphasizing the positive impact on the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a gathering of Village Defense Group (VDG) members from Udhampur, Kathua and Basohli districts held at Ujh pul in Billawar tehsil. Pathania underscored the significant changes in the security landscape since the BJP came to power in 2014. He highlighted the assertive approach toward counter-terrorism, increased autonomy for security forces, and strengthened intelligence networks. “The revocation of Article 370 in August 2019 marked a pivotal shift, aimed at integrating the region, enhancing socio-economic development, and reevaluating the governance structure,” he said.
Pathania acknowledged the reduced space for separatist elements and the government’s efforts to create an environment conducive to holistic development in Jammu and Kashmir. He praised the anti-terrorism policy and the empowerment of Village Defense Committees (VDCs) as instrumental steps in enhancing security.
He also recalled the ‘Doda Bachao Andolan’ launched by the BJP, applauding the sacrifices made by its cadres during the peak of militancy. Pathania criticized political parties like Congress, NC, and PDP for opposing VDCs and commended the VDCs in Jammu and Kashmir for their role in freeing the region from the clutches of militancy.
The BJP leader highlighted the consistent financial support provided to VDCs, emphasizing that it has significantly strengthened the security network and fostered a positive atmosphere in the region.
