Army vital in combating terrorism & ensuring security: LG Sinha

Pays homage to Armed Forces’ bravehearts
Urges people to donate liberally to Armed Forces Flag Day fund

 

Jammu, Dec 07: The Armed Forces Flag Day was observed today in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. To commemorate the occasion, the Armed Forces flag was pinned on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation for the bravery and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers, sailors, and airmen by contributing to the “Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.”
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the crucial role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation. He emphasized that our forces have always been at the forefront, ready to serve with commitment and dedication, particularly during natural calamities. “In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army has been instrumental in combating terrorism and providing a secure environment, especially for those living along the borders and in remote areas,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also acknowledged the significant contribution of the Armed Forces in advancing the socio-economic growth of the region, ensuring that the benefits of development reach every corner of the Union Territory. He called on the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the privileged sections of society, to donate generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund as a token of remembrance and gratitude.
“I extend my best wishes to all serving and retired Armed Forces personnel and their families on this special day,” he added.
Brigadier Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retd.), Director of the Sainik Welfare Department, Jammu and Kashmir, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on various schemes and initiatives designed for the welfare of veterans, Veer Naris, dependents, and serving Armed Forces personnel.
Veterans present at the event included Col. BS Sambyal (Retd.), Col. SS Assla (Retd.), Col. MS Bhau (Retd.), Wg. Cdr. Tirath Singh (Retd.), Subhash Chander, Suresh Kumar, and others, including Bawa Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Janak Singh, and Rajinder Kumar.
