Srinagar, July 08: The Directorate of Rural Sanitation, J&K, has taken innovative measures to ensure a sustainable and eco-friendly ShriAmarnathJi Yatra-2024. With a focus on “Men, Machinery, Mechanism, Maintenance, Monitoring, and Motivation”, the department has engaged over 7,000 sanitation workers to maintain cleanliness and achieve a zero-landfill policy along the pilgrimage routes.
The department’s comprehensive approach ensures efficient waste management, promoting a cleaner environment for pilgrims. The initiative sets a high standard for environmental conservation and responsible waste disposal, making ShriAmarnathJi Yatra-2024 a memorable and sustainable experience.
“We are committed to maintaining the sanctity and cleanliness of the pilgrimage route,” said Director General Rural Sanitation, AnooMalhotra. “Our collaborative efforts with local authorities, volunteers, and waste management teams have been instrumental in achieving these milestones.”

– Wet Waste: 43.30 tonnes collected and processed
– Dry Waste: 43.85 tonnes collected, 42.55 tonnes processed
