Acting tough against illegal mining in the district, the authorities from Geology and Mining Department Kulgam have seized 20 vehicles including three excavators (JCBs) during overnight raids between 4th and 5th June 2023.
Authorities also imposed a penalty of more than Rs. 6 lac against the erring.
The District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kulgam said that these overnight raids were carried out on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat and flying Squad carried out these raids on various vulnerable spots throughout the night and seized vehicles involved in illegal mining.
