Srinagar, Mar 03: In a move to empower women globetrotters and cater to the evolving dynamics of the travel industry, several tour operators have introduced a scheme termed “Travel-Now-Pay-Later.”
This initiative, spearheaded by India’s leading travel agencies such as Thomas Cook, SOTC, Kesari Tours, and Wander Womaniya, aims to offer flexible financing options for travelers, particularly women, seeking to explore the enchanting landscapes of Kashmir and other destinations.
Upon approval, travellers are required to reimburse a portion (15–25%) of the total vacation package cost upfront, with the remaining balance to be settled after returning home. The repayment options include flexible terms ranging from 3 to 12 months, with the added convenience of no-cost EMIs, providing travellers with financial flexibility and peace of mind.
A study by leading travel fintech SanKash showed Jammu and Kashmir’s emergence as the preferred destination for solo travellers, with approximately 35% of respondents expressing a preference for exploring the region at their own pace and preference.
Under the scheme, travelers with a commendable credit history can apply for the “Travel-Now-Pay-Later” program, wherein partnering fintech lenders and non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) will assess the applicants’ creditworthiness.
The move is believed that it cannot only take Kashmir tourism to its new heights but will also give an opportunity to those woman solo travelers who are not able to spend the amount to visit Kashmir valley.
Rajeev Kale, President & Country Head, Holidays, MICE, Visa – Thomas Cook (India) Limited, emphasized the increasing importance of female tourists in India. He drew attention to the notable spike in demand that followed the epidemic for flexible payment options, noting that the “Travel-Now-Pay-Later” scheme had an astounding 25% rise in usage.
Kale highlighted Kashmir’s continued allure to tourists, pointing to the beautiful destination’s strong 20% year-over-year growth.
