Budgam, March 03: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo on Sunday launched a polio national immunization drive by administering polio drops to children less than five years old at CMO Office.
The inaugural was graced by the presence of CMO Budgam, Dr Ayoub Fateh Khan; Deputy CMO, Dr Tahmeena Bukhari, DIO, Dr Yasmeen; BMO Budgam, Dr A.G Raina and other health officials.
A three-day pulse polio vaccination drive is being carried out across the district Budgam. The campaign began on Sunday for all children between the ages of 0 and 5.
On the first day, children aged up to 5 years were brought to booths where they were administered two drops of oral polio vaccine.
For the next two days (March 4 and 5 March ), health teams will visit every household and vaccinate children while ensuring that not a single child is left unimmunized.
Vaccinations had also been made available at all health centers, sub-centers, district hospitals, rural hospitals, and sub-district hospitals of the District.
A total number of 628 polling booths including 49 stations at Hard to Reach Areas (HRA) had been set up in the district wherein a sum total of 1 lakh and six thousand children were immunised.
In a bid to ensure 100% coverage of the campaign, Dr Ayoub visited Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) , Nagbal located at a hard to reach remote area of Yousmarg, CHC Pakherpora and other adjacent Health Centres to witness the progress of polio vaccination drive.
Dr Ayoub while expressing his satisfaction and appreciation to the health staff said that India’s strategic fight against polio is a success story of India public health policy.
